  1. Does anyone have CPOE Order Entry with Meditech that has Transfusion Criteria "attached" to the order? I am going to ask the IT department to begin investigating this process. I would like to see a "pop-up" box occur when orders are placed with the "acceptable" criteria stated. If the physician orders products that are not within the established guidelines, they would be "required" to enter a reason to justify the order in order to proceed. Probably cannot make a hard stop. Thanks
  2. Hi: The unit rechecks are no issue because we are using the Meditech specimen number. Do you have work arounds for IgG crossmatches on the TANGO or are you just doing them on the Bench? Thanks
  3. Does anyone with the TANGO have experience with Apheresis (split) Units (same DIN-product codes different, segment numbers different) and performance of AGT crossmatches and Rh+K Phenotype? I am not comfortable using the "specimen number" (meditech V 5.66) created when the RBC's were brought into the inventory as my "unit number" and entering the DIN either in remarks or as the Patient ID for the crossmatches. Suggestions here are manually entering the DIN and adding C1 (container 1), etc. I am not comfortable with this either. The crossmatch results are not exported to the LIS, therefore manual entry must be made in Meditech. Of course, same donor, different bags--results should be identical. The Rh+K results are manually entered into unit history. Thanks!
  4. Thanks. (1) I understand that the TANGO cannot interpret the results of a patient (example A2 patient with anti-A1). (2) as you are stating, we cannot enter a "blank" as the ABO interpretation in TANGO results area but have to manually enter "some" interpretation?? If we "invalidate" the ABO/Rh results, there is nothing that can be exported to Meditech---other than doing a print screen of the original results and having the techs manually enter the TANGO results. Then follow-up testing would be performed at the bench. Susan
  5. We are validating Meditech 5.6.6 LIS and cannot get reaction results on the TANGO with, for example, an ABO discrepancy, to cross the interface after validation. Have made the ABO result "blank". We have decided not to let the TANGO ABO/Rh interpretation cross the interface, just the reaction results. This problem actually does not let the antibody screen results cross either. It appears that results have to be "normal" to cross the interface. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Susan
  6. Are there any Meditech sites with the TANGO that are performing AGT Crossmatches on the instrument? I am under the impression that the crossmatch results will not cross the LIS. Thanks
  7. This is definitely an AABB citing because RhIG is a derivative (manufactured product). It does not matter if you have never had temperature go below 2C and have statements on the refrig....The alarm settings do not "match" the recommendations of the products. I understand what the citation is about.... I am looking into a NIST certified small and inexpensive min/max digital thermometer with an alarm. This is generally used in micro labs. The probe can be placed in a small bottle of liquid (approximately the amount of volume in an RhIG syringe). There is a wire attached to the probe that can fit "between" the door jamb (without compromising anything) and the thermometer can "stick" on the side of the refrigerator. Should be able to write protocols and also alarm testing procedures for this.
  8. As expected, I was recently cited by AABB/CAP for not being able to change the alarm activation setting on my 20 year old BB Refrigerator to 2.5C (from 1.5C) because of the storage of RhIG. The alarm temperatures are factory set and cannot be changed. Does anyone know where I can I can purchase a separate alarm system, to augment what I currently have, that will satisfy the citation??? thanks, Susan
