  1. Hi Everyone, First - I must identify myself as the technical manager at Biotest in the US. I really appreciate Trektech working on this problem with us, as well as all your ideas for possible reasons for the problem. Trektech is seeing these crystals regularly, however there was only one lot where another account saw them as well. With such a rare occurrance (one customer/set of cells per a couple of hundred users and even more sets of cells) trying to do a root cause analysis has been very difficult. Since the crystals only appear at her site after 3 weeks of product use, our testing at different temperatures etc - takes at least 3 weeks . I do understand the frustration, because I'm feeling it too. (I don't usually answer these!) While our investigation team/QA/QC is working on this, does any one have any other thoughts on what might be causing this? Especially at just one site routinely? Thanks!
  2. Our supervisor's loved it. We also would have sessions with our state inspectors and even had one of AABB's on-staff assessors come in. It's great for the people who can't get out to the annual AABB meeting. Our NJ website is www.njsbbp.org but it's under construction right now. It should have more soon. Our old site is www.njsbbp1.org and you can see some of the programs we've had recently.
  3. Hello from New Jersey, Our NJ Blood Banking group has often hosted FDA speakers. They stressed that while their inspections tend to be focused on Donor Centers or other facilities that are involved in processing of blood in some way, they can and do inspect transfusion services who do no processing or irradiating. Other Blood Bank Supervisors often argued this point with me...until the FDA started showing up at some NJ hospitals and word got out.
  4. Hi, I'm the Technical Services Manager at Biotest in the US. The intent of the statement in the product insert is not to have you test every sample with the control. It's intended that if you have an ABPOS interpretation (positive with Anti-A, Anti-B AND Anti-D) that you would test with the control. This is done because you have no negative reaction and therefore the agglutination in all tubes could be caused by something other than a reaction with the antisera - i.e. a positive DAT, cold agglutinin etc. IF we can help you with any other questions, please contact our tech support line at 800.522.0090 and dial 3. You will be directed to a Biotest employee who is a blood banker familiar with our products and their intended use. I hope this information turns your frown into a smile! Joy Thomsen
  5. I'd be happy to diect anyone to their Biotest sales rep. IF o call our main number 800-522-0090 and tell the receptionist where you're located, she can also get you to their voicemail or cell phone. Your rep in New Hampshire is Pete Dafferner and he can be reached at extension 3005 or cell number 973-452-0272.
  6. I'd be hapy to send you a poster if someone from Biotest hasn't already gotten one to you. You can call us at 800.522.0090 and then dial 3 for tech support. Tell them Joy told you t all. I'm the tech service manager for Biotest.

    Hi!

Hi everyone, I've been a reader for a long time and finally decided to join in. This has been a great place to get information and now I actually have the time to visit regularly. And Hi to Urvashi - I think we talked about this site and the CBBS site at our NJ meetings!
