PathLabTalk utilizes a pretty slick process called "Streams".
At the top and bottom right of every desktop view page, you'll see a link that says, "All Unread Content". If you click on that link, you'll see all posts you have not previously read.
The same option is an "Unread" button on the bottom of the mobile view.
Click the "Unread" link for the device type you are using, and you will be presented with every post you have not read. Once you've read a lost on the list, it will fall off the list until new comments are made for that post.
For a new user, the list will be very long. We suggest you click the "Mark site read" link on the bottom on every page on the desktop view or found in the "..." menu of the mobile view.
Now for the fun part!
Hover over the "Activity" menu item and click "My Activity Streams", then at the bottom of that list, click "Create New Stream".
In this section, you can create a stream of new content only in the areas you want to see.
Let's say you only want to see new posts in HemeLabTalk --> General Information.
- Enter a "Stream Title" - this is just for your use, no one else will see it, so name it whatever you'd like. For this example, let's use "My Stream".
- In "Show Me", we suggest leaving the default.
- In "Content Types", change the selection from "All Content" to "Topics".
- You'll see a little gear icon to the right of "Topics", click that, then from the dropdown that says, "Narrow by Forums", select "General Information" under "HemeLabTalk".
- Leave all other options set to their default except "Read Status", set that to "Content I haven't read", and "Time Period". Change that too "Since my last visit".
- Click "Save Changes" and you'll see the results of your choices.
- This is where it gets really fun! Click "Stream Options" on the right of your display and select "Set as your default stream".
- Now you'll notice that the "All Unread Content" link has changed to "My Stream". Simply clicking that will show the posts meeting your on specific criteria.
You can create as many of these as you'd like and they will always be listed for you in the "Activity" menu and click "My Activity Streams".
Here is a short video on how to make the changes described above.
