irshadaad Posted February 22, 2010 Share Posted February 22, 2010 we are some times re centrifuging sagm added blood unit to remove its sagm+plasma content in order convert it into a prbc for neonatal use.......does this removal change the expiry date to 24 hours....i got cofused with a statement from circular of information 2009...regarding this...please help me to it . SMW Posted February 25, 2010 Share Posted February 25, 2010 Yes. Once you remove the plasma/additive solution you have removed the "fuel" for the cells which will shorten their expiration date.
