Cell Washer Decontamination

We're having trouble finding a reference on how to decontaminate our Sorvall cell washer and how often it should be done. We have a procedure in place, but no source for reference. Any ideas?

Where is your manual? Make sure you always have a copy of the latest version handy.

The decontamination procedure is in the manual along with the routine cleaning procedure. You've got to wipe it off with ethanol (not isopropyl) aswell as run 10% bleach though the tubing.

Be warned you can damage the lifting ring by allowing bleach to stay in contact with it. The ring will become soft and will fall apart; the bowl will not seat.

I plagerized mine from a site I inspected years ago. Three primes of 5% bleach, followed by 6 primes of DI water, followed by 3 primes of saline, then test with pH paper for 7.0.

Even after this procedure is just completed, I bet we can grow something out of the line ...

The last manual I have from Sorvall(Kendro, Dupont) calls for 10% bleach.

Try the internet or call ...It's gone through so many company changes I'm not sure who may have the rights.

The internet may get you a better shot.

Some of the tubing could probably crawl away on it's own.
