Posted March 14, 20232 yr comment_85227 Does anyone have experience moving from Sunquest to Wellsky? We have been on SQ since approximately 1990 and recently the laboratory had Epic Beaker implemented. Did not go smoothly and I am concerned about the Epic / Wellsky partnership. Some of the SQ functionality was removed going to Epic Beaker and I have concerns that Wellsky may also affect the department operations. I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone on how the implementation went as well as the validation. Thank you all in advance! Oh, by the way, we are a 600 bed hospital, with a high risk OB, NICU, PICU, high risk heart program and a large ortho program. MTP will also be implemented sometime in June and would also like to know how well Wellsky will handle the MTP.
April 16, 20232 yr comment_85475 Our hospital system will also be converted to epic beaker and the lab system from sunquest to wellsky. Our validation for wellsky took 2 very strong techs one month to complete. I have worked with wellsky, at a previous hospital (larger than your hospital). Wellsky is great and fast with MTPs.
April 17, 20232 yr comment_85512 WellSky is a rough system. We recently switched to WellSky/Epic-Beaker, it wasn't from SunQuest but was from Cerner Millenium. It has been about 6 months since go-live and some techs are still having problems with it. It is very cumbersome. Some tasks that used to only take 5 clicks of a mouse now takes 30. Everything just takes so much longer. Only thing I see so far as being better with WellSky is the Emergency Release module. It works perfectly, easy to use and very quick. You have to be very careful in how everything is done, one step missed or done in a different order causes all sorts of issues, especially with the interface to Epic/Beaker. I never realized how spoiled I was with Cerner and all it did for me. WellSky is very hands on and manual. Alot of things that used to be automatic now have to be manually done, like billing, demographic changes, cancelling multiple parts of an order. My biggest advice is to get as much practice as you can with the system. I had to do all the validation for it, so I was very comfortable by the time go-live came, but my techs struggled alot, still do. You will be frustrated at first, but it does get easier, and starts to make sense. It is truly the worst system I have worked with.
