  1. As for notice - I get very little of it. We have an minimum care satellite hospital where most of the transfusion patients go. Many times they are there before I get the patient's specimen. I rarely have more than 2 plateletpheresis and it is extremely rare for either of them to be a B or AB. My question about the packed cells is with all the A and O plasma this patient is getting would O cells have a longer survival since I'm giving his B antibodies with his platelets. Some of our plateletpheresis are greater than 300ml. Antrita
  2. We have been moving towards using more and more FFP, Cryo and PLP. Our massive transfusion protocol calls for 1 FFP for every 2 units of packed cells, a platelet after 4 units and then cryo. The success of more FFP early on in Iraq has really influenced our trauma protocol. Antrita
  3. I haven't had problems with Ortho on the phone but have had major problems getting in contact with my sales rep. I went for years thinking I didn't have one and found out from my Immucor rep that I actually did have one. I see him a little more now because we are thinking about getting the ProVue. If it wasn't for the fact that I love gel I probably would only deal with Immucor. Antrita
  4. I have a B positive chemo patient that requires packed cells and platelpheresis 1 or twice a week. It is very rare for me to have a B platelet. His response to both packed cells and platelets is not so good. I am thinking of switching him to O positive packed cells. Does anyone have thoughts, experience etc. with this situation. Thanks Antrita
  5. I'm here at Marian medical Center in Santa Maria CA. With our new patient tower we will have a NICU (a few years away, I might be retired by then). I am trying to figure out what would be the best, best for the money, and don't ever buy this one. Any helpful hints will be apreciated. Thanks Antrita

    Hi!

I'm here in Santa Maria California, blood bank supervisor at Marian Medical Center. I'm kind of a one person show. We're going to have a NICU and anyone that has been there done that I'd appreciate any helpful hints.
