Any reason why I could not leave a bottle of blood bank saline in a 37 degree incubator for the life of the saline so it is ready to go when needed for prewarm testing?

  • If there were only a few bacteria or yeast in there I am pretty sure that they would flourish in a 37 C environment.  If I was a red cell I would npt want to be mixed with that! Scott

At first glance, it sounds like a good idea, but at the very least, it would contradict with the manufacturer's instructions (if it's a commercial preparation). I'm quite sure the stability is based on storage at RT. And SMILLER's point about bug growth is well taken.

Thanks guys,

I let this thought go... we wont dont it.

Instead we'll warm up a bottle for use in prewarm procedure then toss it after.
