How many of you repeat all testing on Rh negative mothers after delivery. along with the fetal screen.

Type, screen, ABID (including completely ruling out all clinically significant AB's).

  • Evidence based medicine...what's that???!!! Stuff like that makes you wonder about what else they don't get.

  • If the patient had a pre-delivery Type & Screen performed then we only do the fetal screen post delivery.

We do not test again after delivery. We only do the Fetal screen testing unless the mother delivered without testing being completed.

n.b. Unless we can prove mom is producing Anti-D, MD wants the Rh-Ig anyway, no matter what.  In fact, we've had an MD want it given even when we CAN prove she's making her own Anti-D.  #MDsalwaysgetwhattheywantevenifitdefieslogic

We do not repeat the Type or Screen post delivery when it has been done on this admission.  We do perform the Fetal Screen (Immucor FMH RapidScreen/KB if indicated).
