Is anyone running the assay for Rh and Kell typings on the Tango and what are you using for QC material? Thanks!

Yes. We use the BiotestCell 3 screening cells. We do the QC every morning.

Yes, we run Rh+K typings on the TANGO. We have a monthly standing order for 2 boxes of Biotestcell 3 which we spin down and take off the supernate from the cells. We run them as needed on the C rack and have them set up with the other controls as AGID1, AGID2 and AGID3. The only thing you need to do is adjust the settings of the K typing on the controls as that changes from month to month.

What patient population do you run Rh+ K typings for?

We run Rh+K typings on sickle cell patients and those patients we ID an Rh or K antibody will receive a full Rh+K antigen typing on the TANGO.

We are also using the Rh+Kell assay to type donor units. We hope to be able to find R1R1 and R2R2 units for our patients with antibodies rather than relying on our blood supplier.

We run Rh + K on our donors using Tango ( before using Optimo now replaced by Tango infinity).

The commercial QC set by BioRad is run every day at the start of the day and it covers ABO blood grouping  as well as Rh + K.

Biotest cell 3  are antibody screening cells .

if you are using them as QC cells  because you know their antigram is appreciated but still if you are conscious about maintaining your QC lab journal  archive in Tango it is better to use the reagent specified for this purpose

The infinity is a disaster?  Or did you have a Tango Optimo previously?

we had already an Optimo which had often issues. then we got an Infinity for testings. there were more down time than up time. the bio-rad service was unable to fix it. so finally they took the instrument out of the lab.
