Hi All

Under the BCSH Guidelines there is no requirement to run a DAT on the baby if the mother had no antibodies during her pregnancy, and the mother received RAADP. I am wondering for those of you who use DiaMed ID-cards for newborn grouping, what card do you use to group the baby?

In my last lab we used the ones with the DAT. If the DAT was positive on the analyser, we repeated it manually and usually it came out negative. If it was positive we reported the grading as we have seen a couple cases of mild HDN due to rhophylac.

In my current lab we use Ortho (yuk) and also use the cards with DAT. With 250iu and 500iu out of stock until April, we have been giving 1500iu for bleeding events, so there is the possibility of increased sensitisation.
