Malcolm, the pleasure was ours. I will share one story of our experiences. It took a while to spring Malcolm from the clutches of Logan airport, what with his flight being delayed, a crowd at customs, and the lost luggage. We finally made it back to RI, and I opened a nice bottle of Sonoma zinfandel. We clicked our glasses together in a "Welcome to RI" toast, and my wife slopped hers onto the front of Malcolm's shirt. Malcolm was very gracious about the purple blotch on his one and only shirt, and we braved the Walmartians the next morning to do a little shopping.....

  • I plan to take him out for a pint after his presentation. Are we lucky in Rhode Island or what?????

  • Having had the pleasure of Malcolm's knowledge and company for many years at a variety of venues I would suggest your planned taking him out for a pint scores fully in quality but is lacking somewhat

  • In Rhode Island, though, you would have had even odds that Michele went to school with her, was her godchild, worked with her Mom, or had the same dentist.

Phil and Malcolm neglected to mention his almost run in with the law as he almost committed a federal felony (if that's even a term). But all was well, we escaped lunch with no signs on fingerprints left on the mailbox disguised as a trash container.  HaHa, what happens in Providence, stays in Providence.

For those of you who will get to see and hear Malcolm in Las Vegas later this year, be prepared for a wonderful, and interesting talk.  He is one cool and smart dude!! I look forward to your next visit Malcolm!

Nice to see Pathlabtalk up and running again also. When its down, its like a piece of my work day is missing.....

There was a blurry photo on a wanted poster at the post office this weekend. Something about fire, rugby hooligans and the US mail...........

Well, it is all a little bit more than embarrassing!

To start with, I am one of those foul creatures that smoke cigarettes (I know, I know).

For those of you who are non-smokers, you may or may not have seen a sort of "public ashtray" that is attached to the wall of buildings, usually at the entrance/exit, where you stub out the cigarette on the lid, then lift the lid and pop the stub into the bin part.

Not wishing to litter the streets of Providence, I duly looked around for just such a "public ashtray", found one and duly stubbed out my cigarette and disposed of the stub into the bin; except it wasn't a "public ashtray".  In the UK, all mail is delivered through a slot in the door (the letter box), but, of course, I wasn't in the UK, and totally forgot that, in the USA, you have mail boxes attached to the outside of buildings and, yes, you've guessed it, I stubbed out my cigarette on the lid of what turned out to be a mail box and deposited the remains into the inside of the mail box.

Cue red face for me and much hilarity and banter from both Dr. Pepper and Karrieb61, both of whom witnessed this faux pas on my part!

So much for me being either cool, or a smart dude!!!!!!!!!
