I wondered why it was so quiet on PLT today, and then the atrophied brain finally kicked into gear.

  • This is the time of year when Blood Centers run low on blood!  Everyone is too busy shopping and going to parties I guess. We should all think about donating if we have the time over the next few week

  • Thanks Malcolm.  I was at work yesterday, but thankful regardless!   Scott

  • Yup, major glutton day for us Americans. After the turkey we fall asleep so there is no time to do PLT. Plus if we did, our family members would call as Geeks

Can someone in the US explain Black Friday? You have thanksgiving and are grateful for what you have and then the next day people are out fighting for things they don't have. It's rather ironic...

Sort of the opposite of Boxing Day I guess...

from Wikipedia:

In the UK, Canada, and some states of Australia, Boxing Day is primarily known as a shopping holiday, much like Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) in the US. Boxing Day sales are common in Canada. It is a time where shops have sales, often with dramatic price reductions. For many merchants, Boxing Day has become the day of the year with the greatest amount of returns. In the UK in 2009 it was estimated that up to 12 million shoppers appeared at the sale.

Or maybe the same!

I don't try to explain that  craziness as I just ignore it. I call Christmas National Gift Giving Day since the spirit of that day seems to be about glutton also IMHO.  Boy, are we way off topic
