Hi, i am validating transport cooler at our facility to hold a total of 8 units. My question is how many units do i need inside the cooler for validation? Is one enough? Thanks.

We validate all of our coolers empty, with two (mock) units and full to capacity.

Most of our coolers leave with 2 or 4 units, but sometimes we do an exchange and issue 2 or 3 full coolers.

I suggest you validate your coolers to mimic how they will be used.

I validate the coolers with the minimum and maximum volume the cooler can hold. In your case that would be 1 unit and 8 unit. My reason is to ensure the 1 unit doesn't freezer and the 8 units are not to warm.

In the patient care area, there will be times only 1 units is left because they are using them. And you may send the cooler out with eight. The goal is to qualify the equipment at low and high ends.
