  • Karrie OK, I just had to look this up.  An early name for thrombocytes was piastrine, which does indeed mean "little plates" (in Italian, I think).   So your friends are right on on this one!   Scott

OK, I just had to look this up.  An early name for thrombocytes was piastrine, which does indeed mean "little plates" (in Italian, I think).

 

So your friends are right on on this one!
