Does anyone have a written Training Plan for new blood bank employees?  Currently I have a checklist, but I would like to develop a more defined plan. If so, does anyone wish to share any documents here?

Thank you very much.

While I don't have a training plan per se I train a new grad a lot differntly than someone with experience.

We have a training document where each test/task is listed. Then we put dates/initials for:

Observation: first time tech sees the trainer perform the task.

Return demonstration: trainer watches tech perform the task, with direct guidance.

Perform procedure: here we have an expected required frequency: (2x or 10x for example). This is

the trainee performing the procedure under the watchful eye of the trainer, as many times as

needed.

Final Observation: here's when we "sign them off" on the task. We and they agree that they are

comfortable with it and competent.

When all Final Observations are filled in, we both sign, the the Lab Director and Medical Director both sign it. When the Medical Director signs, the trainee is now competent and can work independently.

It's really complicated and both the trainer and trainee really hate it, but inspectors have liked our process.

st to ask - how does one share a document now on this site?  I don't see any attachment "paperclip" and when I tried one time to share something - i didn't have the time to figure out how.  Any help would be appreciated.

I do have a documented set of competencies for new employees - how I go about documenting the competencies is different based on the tech's experience (or lack of).
