Hi! I am an MLT with 15 years Blood bank experience at a community hospital. I am married with a 6 year old son. I work part time and am taking classes for a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science so I will be eligible to apply for a supervisory position.

I can not tell you how happy I am to have found this site! As I've looked through the various posts I can tell there is a wealth of knowledge and experience available here. Thank you all in advance! :)

Welcome. I too have found this site a wealth of knowledge and having just started as BB supervisor at a small community hospital I know I have gotten a lot of help from the wonderful people here.

Welcome emigpl!

The posters above are absolutely correct. There are some really wonderful people on this site and, like Terri, I regularly learn something new, particularly about general transfusion, as I am very, very specialised in my own job, and there is so much I still have to learn outside the "glass sphere" in which I exist.

This will be very helpful to you even as you further your studies...We always learn as Blood Bankers. I've worked as a Blood Banker for 25 years but still need a site like this, especially since our hospital alots no money for continuing education opportunities.
