I agree to recognize and acknowledge the fact that you were thinking about the patient!! Great!! The sup could have explained it to you gently, all the while acknowledging your care. Well, we here do appreciate your patient-care !! :) You should be an example for your colleagues.

Hi Deny,

Sorry this has taken so long, but I missed seeing George when he was in London, due to illness, and he has since been on holiday, so I only got his reply this morning.

He tells me that the 2nd edition is, indeed, now out of print, and he suggests that the best way to obtain a second hand copy is via the internet.

Sadly, they are not writing a 3rd edition, as George tells me that Larry Petz is now 82, and has just undergone bypass heart surgery.

Once again, apologies that this has taken so long.

Malcolm,

Thanks for digging into this issue for me. I will pursue a second hand copy at this point I guess. I hope Larry Petz recovers comfortably and completely.

Just a thought but if you put the sample in the fridge overnight then all the cold abs bind to the red cells leaving allo antibodies (if present). Now you can crossmatch as normal :) doesn't always work but it is a neat trick...
