Provue users: When doing the monthly data back up have you considered using other media besides a CD? Seems to me that a thumb drive would be a good alternative.

We are not allowed to use thumb drives in our facility, so we continue to use CDs.

I believe I was told that thumb drives, or any re-writeable drives were not approved for a number of reasons. One of the biggest was the possibility of introducing a virus in the software that could affect patient results and cause great harm.

We were given a thumb drive to use for transferring backup files by our Ortho FSE. I transfer the files (monthly) to a server that gets backed up nightly.
