In the latest edition of the Technical Manual, the phrase "if the receiving facility does not allow crossover of autologous units," page 250 wondering how many facilities allow crossover of autologous units into the general inventory. Thanks

Don't know how many facilities and suspect very, very few, but below is from the 2007 National Blood Collection and Utilization Survey (which surveyed 2006):

"Only a very small number of units (3,000 or 0.8% of the autologous units collected) were reported to have been crossed over to the community supply in 2006."

WE don't crossover because we: 1 - don't ask all the required donor questions and 2 - don't perform any TTD testing.

We do not, like said above, the donor is asked a different set of eligibility questions.
