Question for Dr. Pepper. Do you ZZAP treat the autologous cell prior to PEG adsorptions? Currently we only have a procedure for saline autoadsorptions, after pre-treating with ZZAP and PEG would be a big time saver!

Thanks,

Angela

No need to pretreat the cells, just wash as the procedure outlines. I've never seen more than 2 adsorptions needed to remove the autoantibody. We've tried ZZAP and WARM over the years, the PEG method is the easiest, quickest and most efficient I've seen. If you know where you're headed, you can do panel, eluate and panel, autoadsorptions, crossmatches and get your blood out the door in 2 hours. The procedure has a caveat about some dilutional loss of sensitivity, but we tried the procedure with some spiked samples and saw equal or better reactivity with the PEG mixture post-adsorption than with LISS pre-adsorption.
