We had to give AB FFP to an emergency room patient who had not had a typing performed yet (we use the 2-typing convention before giving non-O RBC or non-AB FFP). The ER doc called to ask why we didn't use O FFP. I explained that AB was the universal plasma donor. The doc actually said, "OK, you're the experts." In 38 years I don't believe this has happened to me before!
