I work in a very small lab and we are going to start performing Rh typing. I was wondering if anyone could help me with knowing what control cells to use for performing QC. What I have so far is the Anti Rh-hr Control. What else am I need of to make sure that I am running accurate Rh testing and am compliant with COLA? Thanks for your input!!!

Here we simply use panel cells (or screening cells) that are positive and negative for the particular antigen you are testing with the matching anti-sera. Try to use heterozygous cells when available for positives.

This is not a commercial plug, but we use Ortho QC7, which will control your ABO&Rh typing sera or gel cards and has three antibody sera as well (Usually an Anti-D, An anti- Kell (or Duffy) and one negative). I am sure there are other products similar on the market.

If you're using Ortho anti-sera please note the the Rh-hr control is not recommended for a control for D typing, we use reagent red cells for each antigen we are testing for and a 6% albumin for a negative control.
