Hi,

I'm a new poster, so sorry if this is in the wrong forum. My lab director asked me about one of our blood bank refrigerators that had a crack in the glass. She was wondering if it would have to be replaced. The door is double-paned glass and the crack is in-between these two panes of glass. The temp. doesn't seem to be affected by this crack. I was just wondering if anyone had any links to OSHA or CAP guidelines about whether or not it should be replaced. Thanks for your time.

DCH

I've never seen any guidelines that were that specific. If it doesn't seem to be compromising the blood products at all (temps in range every day, etc), it would be OK. The only other issue is employee safety if it were to break/shatter. So you probably want to plan for a new one at some point.

Thanks for the reply, so far that is what I have found out also. Just checking with everyone else. Thanks again.
