Anyone using DTT and/or 2ME out there...can you please tell us where do you buy your reagents?

Bio-Rad carries DTT, not sure about 2ME

We don't have deliveries but do test some clinic patients who deliver at another hospital. A few years ago I went through the trouble of making my own PBS and DTT suspensions, but we so rarely get prenatal anti-M or other antibodies that we have to see if they are IgM or IgG that it was hardly worth the effort. We have a good relationship with our local reference lab and they just give us a tube once in a while if we need it.

I'm not sure about expiration of the frozen suspension - I think we used an arbitrary 1 year. And I've never worked with 2-ME but I've read that it has an absolutely horrid, strong odor. DTT has a bit of a skunky, sulphur smell but is managable. I would go that way.

2-ME is VERY smelly, nasty and vile, in my opinion. Years ago, my then-supervisor in BBank and I were playing with it one day and the rest of the lab threatened us with great bodily injury if we didn't get rid of it. These were the same people who stunk up the place with nasty 24 hour urine samples. The nerve of some people! ;>
