I can never absorb all the autoab out using gel. Whenever I do these, all my testing is in tubes.

Same as David; gel is just too sensitive with the warm autos.

we use WARM reagent and use gel to test our adsorbed plasma. Our primary test of record is Gel so we do test our adsorbed plasma with Gel. If gel reactivity is only 1+ to 2+ tube usually is negative so in that case no need for adsorption.

I feel more confortable in giving gel crossmatch incompatible with physician's approval rather than going to tube and giving tube crossmatch compatible blood.

We have seen this variability with Eluate. when we test eluate with tube and if it is negative and patient is recently transfused and made new antibody we test our eluate(neg with tube) with gel and we see very nice reactivity.

I do test my eluates in gel . . . PeG autoaborptions in gel are suspect (I believe) since the gel system is already a Loionic medium, adding Peg to that system is asking for problems (as PeG is not meant to be used in a loionic environment).
