I had a patient in OB who had a reaction to a Rhogam shot that was issued by our transfusion services. Does anyone know how this is treated. Is it a transfusion reaction by the laboratory or a drug reaction by the pharmacy? Does the lab have to report anything or are there forms to be filled out for this? Any ideas will help.

We had this in the past. If it is RhoGam you need to report it to Ortho. If other brand of RHIG report to the manufacturer. Call their service department.

PS

RHIG was ordered, stored, issued by the BB. If pharmacy handles it, they need to report it to Ortho.

Localized reaction at site of injection for our patients. Ortho (Dr Gorman) responded to the clinician. I am sorry I don't remember all of the details.

She had hives at the site of injection, ringing in her ears, and blood pressure dropped from 137/67 - 75/37.
