Is anyone out there scanning BLood Bank records. We have run out of storage room and need to seek an alternative means of storing records that must be retained for "infinity". If you currently are scanning, what kind of equipment would you recommend? Also, what are your policies/guidelines/etc that you have in place with this protocol? Thanx! Cel

Your Medical Records dept is a good internal source for equipment and procedures for scanning documents. I bet half of their job is doing that!

We use a regular scanner with our LIS that allows us to scan into the nurses charting module. We still keep the paper documents in storage off-site.
