Besides inspection of blood and blood components at receipt and issue, what is everyone's other "defined interval"? We have always inspected all of our units daily but that is getting difficult to do. I would love to hear how others are doing it.

We also inspect on shipment and return. Daily is very difficult. Some places have an inspection at crossmatch. We don't have a place to document that.

We inspect daily . . . inventory is not very large (~50u). When I worked in a busy BB, we still checked daily (300+ units in stock). I like the idea of inspection at XM.

Daily here as well (around 40 units). Perhaps at crossmatch and at transfer out of facility if unit goes to another hospital? (larger area hospital will take our shorter dated units with 10-17 days left until expiration) Just thinking out loud.

Daily. Iit is part of our daily inventory management and reconciliation process. Our inventory averages about 110 units of PC.

It is just a quick visual check and we do inspect them on receipt from blood supplier and at issue. Documented in the BB computer.

We inspect at the time of receipt (documented in computer), daily (log book), and at time of issue (documented in computer).
