We have had this set up for several years now and it works just fine, but in the beginning the product barcodes would not scan.  We worked on it for nearly a year and Meditech said there were no settings that could affect this, but still no luck.  It mysteriously started working without any intervention from us or Meditech.  No one has any idea what happened.  We are now on version 5.6.6.

We are just beginning the process of bringing TAR on board. We have had real issues with nursing not completing the transfusion forms completely-volumes not written, vitals incomplete, sometimes no verification signatures. Are all of these fields required in TAR? Our nurses do input VS in Meditech, and are also supposed to enter I/O volumes, but the ones in Meditech don't always match the ones that are missing on the transfusion forms. Do your nurses report pre and post breath sounds? Our form has a place for them, but, along with the volume, this is one of the reports that is infrequently filled out. If anyone can share the problems they went through with TAR, I would appreciate it, so we don't have to!

We recently implemented TAR in Meditech 5.6. The requirement to have two clinical staff to check the unit of blood is now replaced with the barcoding process. Is there a regulatory requirement that the clinical staff verbally/check the compatibility tag to the donor unit.
