I am reposting thisin another area, maybe I chose the wrong one previously, Thank you for your replies in advance.

Who can kindly tell me what is their experience with false positive results for infectious screening in their institutions? Mainly for HTLV I/II antibodies and HBcore Abs.

What platform do you use?

I use the Architect for screening. But for any other methodolgy I would like to know what I should accept as percentage of false positives. :cries:

Moreover, what do you do with positive results? Do you repeat in duplicate? or run supplemental tests? which ones?

Thank you :)

we in Costa Rica, performe HTLV in microplates. Murex 4 years ago, and Diasorin, now at days.

because, HTLV, has a very low prevalence in our population, so many false positives are found. i can tell that 1-2% of our donors test positive for HTLV. We repeate it two times more from pilot tube and two form the bag. (previosly centrifugation at 3000 g)

if it continuos positive, we perform a westernblot for HTLV. mostly are negative.
