Does anyone use Chlorascrub swabstick. It is made by PDI and is 3.15%Chlorhexedine Gluconate and 70% Isopropyl Alcohol. If so, How did you validate it and how?

Thankyou,

John

Why do you have to validate it? The use of chlorhexidine scrubs is doucmented (recommended?) on the CBER website along with the procedure for use (which, coincidentally adheres to the manufacturer's instructions - I use Chlorapreps). This is not a reagent but a product with a defined use approved by the FDA for preparing the venipuncture site. I guess you could use touch plates before and after on the site you have cleansed - but how would you compare it with your current product? You couldn't use the same site and using an alternate site would not seem an acceptable alternative (unless you could doucment the flora were identical on the sites being compared).
