Is anybody using BBCS for transfusion service functions? I have been looking at it and it seems cumbersome but I think that is mainly because my experience has been with windows based Meditech. If you do use it what sort of functions do you utilize? I know the question is vague but I am not sure what it is capable of and how user friendly it is for transfusion service/consultaton. Thanks.

As far as I know, BBCS was designed for donor center use, not for transfusion service use. This does not mean that no one is using it for TS, but I don't know of anyone who is...

Puget Sound Blood Center, Seattle, WA, has used BBCS Transfusion Service software since February 1997. Donor Testing, Inventory Production, Inventory Management and Blood Collection Services are also using BBCS. In my opinion, all software leaves something to be desired. I do not have any experience with other transfusion service software so I have nothing to compare my BBCS experience to at this time.
