Does anyone use the HemoTemp II for monitoring unit temperature? My staff finds this device difficult to interpret. Any suggestions for interpretation?:confuse:

We also found them difficult, but there is a more pressing problem. The irreversible indicator is for 10C for 30 minutes or so. The AABB now has a new standard which specifically defines storage. Now we are looking for an irreversible indicator reactive at 6C for off-site transfusions. We tried Safe-T-Vue and Trans-Vue, but found those also somewhat lacking. We have ordered WarmMark indicators from Dry Pak Industries (drypak.com). If this does not work, we will go to data loggers.

I have used the HemoTemp IIs for years, but only to monitor transport of blood to other facilities . . . have not had a problem with anyone reading them . . . Once activated, the first 3 circles define the internal temp of the unit at the current time. The 4th circle has the blue flower . . . if it is black, the unit has warmed to greater than 10C.

We are using them for almost 3 years now and all have no problem with reading it. It is exactly as David said. We use them also for transport of blood.
