I would like to purchase albumin already diluted to 6% instead of diluting 22% albumin to 6%. I have been unable to find a source for this but have been told that it's available. Does anyone know where I can purchase 6% albumin that's acceptable as a blood bank reagent?

No . . . I have never seen it from any of the usual vendors. It is not that labor intensive to dilute 1:3 or 1:4.

We purchase 30% bovine abumin from DiaMed and dilute it 1:4 with PBS. Not a difficult job. No QC is required. If you do wanna buy 6% bovine albumin, please check with Novoclone.

Does saline work as a control as well as the 6% albumin?

The purpose of the Rh control is to detect auto-agglutination. For low-protein reagents, you may use 6% albumin or autologous plasma. Other than that, please read the packing insert of the reagent you are using.

Hope that helps.
