Is anyone out there using the OE module nursing transfusion documentation routines? Or are you all using paper for keeping up with what happens to the units? I have been told by our nursing LIS person that the meditech routines do not work, just wanting other opinions.

I've heard that the TAR will be fully functional in the next version, scheduled for late 2008/early 2009. We're on C/S v5.6, and we're validating a partially-functional "intervention" system that allows the nurses to document online.

We will be going to 5.62 this year, I get the tasks in like 2 weeks... oh joy. Maybe my version will include the "fixes".

We will be going LIVE with 5.6.2 next week, but we are not implementing TAR at that time (too much other stuff to do for now).

Our nurses document mostly on paper, but they can alternatively record vitals in screens set up for this (this is not TAR). I don't know the details of how they set this up, I think it is very similar to other nursing documentation, and they just created interventions (?) or whatever they call it in NUR.

(I can find out details if you want).

We are trying to address the CAP standard TRM.30575 as well as to cut down on paper. Thanks, though I may get back to you on that.

We are on 5.6 as well and our nurses are still using a paper form for documentation. I do not anticipate moving it to Meditech in the near future, we have enough problems as it is with it. I will be interested to hear from other users that do move to that system.

I have listened to a recorded class dealing with eTAR. It was directed to nurses who would now be responsible for recording transfusions in MEDITECH.

My first reaction was, no way I'm letting nursing be responsible for entering the transfusion information. This is one of the features of eTAR. Another is scanning the barcodes at the bedside in a similar fashion to pharmacy and eMAR.

I'm just glad I'm not going to be the first one to try this....
