I am currently working on a Six Sigma project regarding issued and subsequent returned components from a large OR department. I am finding it difficult to locate benchmarking information on this topic, and was wondering if anyone could provide information on the following items:

• Typical component orders by OR procedure
• Average number of components issued to the OR each day
• Average number of components returned from the OR each day

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated!

I think "average" will depend on your facilities size. We have a MSBOS (minimum surgical blood ordering schedule) but that is also facility dependent. I think you will need to build the dataset for your institution and then look at it rather than try to find "published averages."
