I would be interested to hear opinions about the outdate change back to 5 days for plateletpheresis.

Typical knee-jerk reaction, IMHO. I'm betting the numbers really show 7-day plats no worse than 5-day plats.

This is the first I have heard of it. Our Red Cross was not participating in the study so we have not been receiving 7-day platelets. Here is a link to a letter from AABB to Gambro and Fenwal expressing concern over the abrupt cancellation of the study.
