Does anyone have any references for best practice w/respect to transfusion administration audits? Our organization performs about 30 a month. Our Quality Department wants to know how that compares to best practice.

How many audits, if any, are you performing at your facilities?

We transfuse about 1000 products per month and perfomr 10 audits per month. We scaled it down appropriately for the smaller hospitals in our system.

We try to audit 10% - 15% per month.

our blood bank issued around 2000 up q monthly . per JCIA we have to get 5% for every 6oo plus or more as a total population .
