We ahve the REES system. It monitors everything except our heat blocks for incubating tubes.

In house we use REES for our donor centers also. We have probes in our platelet incubators and room temp storage area (platelet resting area) and in the whole blood fridge too.

For transport of WB and platelets, we have validated coolers for this purpose. We do not monitor those temps.

tnx again!

But in the determination fo the potencial donor`s temperature, do u use it too?

comment_2515

Woops, sorry, I misread your question.

We use electronic patient thermometers.

We use Welch Allyn and Alaris.

comment_2543

We use Alaris electronic patient therm/BP instrument. Maintained by the hosp biomedical engineers.

We were cited by FDA several yrs ago for using Temp a Dots. Not accurate and needed to be QC'd lot to lot. When the QC overtook the time spent on the donors, we gave up!

We use the Kendall Genius 2 Infrared electronic thermometer which recently replaced an earlier model (Kendall 3000A). So far the older model appears to be much more reliable with regards to maintaing its calibration.
