I'd appreciate any feedback on techniques for washing platelets on the COBE-what solution do you wash with? have you ever added Calcium to the final product to adjust the pH?do they look awful!

We wash apheresis plts on the 2991 using Plasmalyte. The pH of the final product will always be in the pH range of the washing solution. This has been much more successful than using normal saline which has a lower pH.

Laura,

Would you be interested in sharing your SOP for this? We wash a fair amount of platelets with limited success.
