How much on average do most blood banks spend per donor? I'm working on next year's budget and would like to know a good figure to shoot for. I will appreciate any input.

For funding of gifts only, we give gift cards for $5 for whole blood (allogeneic only) and $10 for plateletpheresis. Also T-shirts are available.

We have a variety of gift cards, including Starbucks, Red Lobster, Baskin Robbins and Subway. Also have movie tickets - 1 for WB and 2 for pheresis.

Has any company ever donated the gift cards or the products you give away ? If so which ones .

It is harder for big corporations to give. Think local!! Those "smaller fish" are sometimes more willing to get their name out there.

The last survey I saw from America's Blood Centers included a recruitment cost of $20+ per unit. This would include all your posters/ flyers/ advertising, in addition to any donor incentives you may give per donation.
