Hi- we are updating our procedures to reflect manipulating AlbaQChek QC to create a positive DAT. Does anyone know is this just an "internal" QC thing or IQCP? Sorry if this seems like a dumb Q...I'm adding to Vision QC but didn't know how strict the monitoring has to be. Thank you!

We were told that because we prove the IgG Card is working properly with the positive and negative antibody screens, we do not have to make a specific sample for pos and neg 'DAT'.

Well- I'm not sure who told you that, but you have to have some QC for testing done that doesn't have commercial QC material. Thank you.

The company told us.  And really, it does make sense.

We are testing the sensitivity of the reagents in the cards by sending a coated cell from the reaction chamber down through the reagent/gel.  It shouldn't matter if the cell was coated a few minutes ago or a few days ago, the IGG Card is working.

We have multiple Visions, our cords are run on a separate instrument- I have spoken to Ortho regarding this and they do not support testing without specific QC for the testing being performed. Most institutions use vial #4 with AlbaQ-Chek to prepare positive DAT samples. Happy New Year to all.

This process coats the vial #4 cells with a monoclonal antibody, not human source anti-D so, to us, it seems like just making it look like you did QC rather than really testing anything besides the camera and algorithm.  I agree with Joanne that you have proved with the screen QC that the IgG gel cards work, the camera can read and the computer can interpret.  If it didn't make the DAT cell suspension properly, the algorithm would flag that.  We continue to jump through this hoop because our TJC inspectors probably will expect it and Ortho told us to do it initially.
