X-Ray Irradiators
Thank you both for your responses. Do you know if the government provides a grant for the removal of the cesium sourced irradiator? If so, how do you go about getting the grant?

X-Ray Irradiators
Has anyone heard of the X-ray irradiators that can replace the Cesium sourced irradiators? Is anyone using it and how did you acquire it? I'm considering it for our lab and wanted to know the census from other Blood Bankers.

Storage of non-blood products in BB fridge
Before storing reagents with blood products, check your storage temps from the manufacturer. Generally, reagent storage is 2-8C while blood is 1-6C. Some agencies consider that a huge difference. So if you store them together, change the high & low activation alarms to accommodate the difference in temps. We keep reagents & specimens in 1 refrigerator at 2-8C & blood in another 1-6C.

Thank you for the response, Terri Bostock. I truly appreciate your help. Has anyone been able to obtain the Safety Data Sheet from their vendor regarding the type of adhesive used? Is there a specific type of adhesive that the FDA approves to be used?

Is FDA Registration required?
If the blood transfusion slip has a peel sticker with patient & unit information but no bar code for scanning, does the slip have to be registered with the FDA? I am trying to create a new transfusion slip that would stick a peel tag to the back of the blood product that indicates the patient & unit identifiers so that when the unit is hung, the information is still attached to the unit when the transfusion slip is detached from the unit.
