Plasma Thawers
We use Plamatherm, their newer model, and I have used their old model 10 years ago and would advice to stay away unless absolutely needed. The time to thaw is usually longer than Helmer especially if more than two units thawed at once. We keep getting overtemp error and there is nothing in the manual on how to troubleshoot it. There is another waterless plasma thawer I had a pleasure to see in person and it looked promising but not sure if they are still in the business. It was Zipthaw by GenesisBPS. It depends what your need is, if only two units are needed at one time I would consider waterless thawer as a back up .

Thawed FFP
We did that back in the day when we didn't have access to the proper label printer. Like previously mentioned, you will need is cross out FDA license, update expiration date/time, and storage conditions on the face label. Make sure the ISBT barcode doesn't populate wrong expiration date.

Passing the SBB: How Do I Not Get Crushed Again?
I took my exam in 2017 after going through the NIH SBB program in Maryland. I highly recommend that program to anyone who is looking for in person program. The passing rate after the program for the SBB exam is at 90% for the last 10 years. It is free, you work there and get paid and learn from the best in the industry, and it is in person. I did not study outside the class provided materials and got 630 on the exam. Prior to that I had 6 years of BB leadership experience in the smaller Regional hospitals. I can provide contact info for the program if anyone interested.

Laboratory Developed Tests
Does anyone know, if laboratory made antisera (i.e. spike diluent with known commercial antisera), would be considered a LDT if used as a quality control of antibody screening cells?
