I guess a good way to prevent a contaminated blood donation due to a donor lying to a family member would be to put in the policy that family members cannot take blood or ask pre-donation questions from members of the same family but would that even be practical? Is this an issue that happens so often that the policy writer would have to make note of it?

  8. Hello everyone! My name is Mario and I'm with the United States Blood Bank. We're a supplementary supplier and what we try to do is act as a safety net for hospitals in case their primary supplier can't provide certain products. My reason for joining PathLabTalk is to better understand the Blood Banking Industry. I specifically would like to be able to get into the minds of lab directors and managers so that I can create win-win situations based on their perspectives. I would also like to contribute to this forum in anyway that I can and hopefully be considered a valued member. Thanks!
