    Autologous placenta transfusions

    Has anyone ever done autologous (infant) collections from a placenta/cord blood- like a cell saver technique? Our bloodless center is looking at all possibilities to prevent transfusions and the thought was to give an at risk infant their own blood back first (I would think it would have to be within 6 hrs of collection). This could potentially pospone a transfusion. I have not heard of this but maybe it can be done? Thanks for any input.
