Just wondering how folks know when they last validated their coolers. Do you put some kind of identification actually on the cooler stating when it was last validated and by whom? I know it isn't necessary for any standards, but it seems like it'd be a nice thing to know. What kind of process do you have in place for knowing when a certain cooler is due to be validated (if you have a lot of them)? Thanks

We use color coded coolers for our multiple traumas. Each trauma "packet" is identified using a color. That color is assigned to everything having to do with that patient (wrist bands, flow sheet, cooler for uncrossmatched blood). Once we have identified the patient, they are registered accordingly. This process has helped us a lot during multiple trauma when you recieve 3 18 year old girls wearing the same soccer uniform.

What is the best way to pack an igloo cooler to maintain temperature with smaller number of units (2) and a larger number (10)? Any advise would be much appreciated.

When you say "unique identifier" what do you mean. Unique for the patient, or unique for the cooler? And, what size is the tag you put on the cooler. Is it a clear sleeve that is attached to the cooler? Thanks for any information everyone.

I was just wondering what information should be included on the outside of transport coolers? The last QC of that cooler, patient information, unit number? I can't seem to find anything in the AABB manual that specifies exactly what needs to stay attached to the cooler.
