  1. Just curious how other micro departments screen or isolate for Y. Enterocolitica for stool cultures. I believe our current practice is somewhat out of date.....we set a BAP, MAC, XLD, CVA and MAC broth (for shigatoxin testing) on stool cultures. After 24 hours we leave the MAC at room temperature to watch for Y. Enterocolitica. I have questioned how this is effective (being it's loaded with normal fecal flora usually), but I seem to get the answer: "we've always done it that way".
  2. We use Biorad controls for ESR on the same set-up you have. The controls work very well!!
  3. I meant the antigram paperwork, like the printed antigram and printed antibody panel, not the cells (if a surveyor were to ask for them). Sorry for the confusion.
  4. I am a fairly new bloodbank supervisor and have a question. Do we need to keep a year's worth of old antigrams and panels? If so, why and where can this standard be found? Seems like most of the antigrams can be pulled from the manufacturer online for the last two or three months.

We have the Echo and are pleased with it. As with every instrument, it has its set-backs. We also use Ortho gel for our backup method.
