Blood Bank supervisor/manager on Transfusion Committee?
The BB manager is an equal member and a great asset. The Blood Utilization Committee should be a separate entity. It reports and recommends to the Chief of Staff. The BB Director is the secretary and vice chair (not chair) on the Committee.

Donor Lymphocyte Infusion
Hello Dave It is, we give it in the case of relapse post BMT to have GvL and ofcourse there will be GvH. So the balance is the tricky part. In AML the response is reportedly not good without chemo, I was wondering what dose per kg is being given.

Shelf life of platelets
Hi Crummer, Thank you for this information. I found the data in the literature. Great help, especially that in one document FDA is revisiting 7 day plts based on the Irish experience. They prefer day-5 re-culture rather than day-4 .. as there is more chance of catching a positive concentrate.....to be followed. Thanks!

Dear Malcolm, On the contrary, I meant well, hope you did not misunderstand me.

CD 34 count in the Collect
Thank you very much applejw. Do you have their algorithm? Seriously, I would like to try it so that the collections stop falling on Sundays, Birthdays, holidays and even on marriages with no replacement operator Thank you Liz

We are looking into "Lab on a chip" very interesting. About needing help from Earth or Above, I feel I have a lucky star, and all the Blood Bankers have one too, otherwise....

What about Blood Banking Microarrays and nucleotides, surely that might pick up a weak and/or partial D.

hello Anna, Does the station work with the DVI+ (positive) cards for donors? and the DVI-(negative) cards for patients? I should think so. We hope to acquire the station soon. Thanks

Point of Care Rh testing
We too have our QA super check the POCT. I was wondering, what tests do most of your medical centers cover with the POCT?

Interesting article (ape blood banks)
Interesting, it makes us realise the trouble scientists went through for us to reach the basics of transfusion medicine today. I am happy they are doing it now for apes. Personally, I have enough concerns keeping up with humans and the interesting and new but continuous discoveries. To each his own. But I must say that I was touched and happy for the care being given to the apes and was a bit upset about the direct transfusion attempt...

We had this problem and changed brands. The new brand will be available in the US this year.

Point of Care Rh testing
yes it has been and still is that we have up to 72 hours to give the RhIG. However the literature states that we have up to seven. This is a reassurance in case of a delay. Moreover, I wonder who keeps RhIG if they are so far off from a Blood Bank, but it is possible. Anything is possible.

Point of Care Rh testing
I mean I prefer Blood Bank results and RhIg does not need to be given STAT. If the results are wrong and RhIg is given, it won't harm but it is awfully expensive. What about the FMH and KB test..for the # of vials to administer. I agree with glucose POC. I dont even get the cholesterol POCT.

Point of Care Rh testing
I am just wondering where this would be used.
